Religious education in Holt Primary school is “rooted and established in love” (Ephesians 3.17-19).
Our teaching gives pupils an ideal opportunity to explore religions and non-religious beliefs – to find out what matters most to people in a wide range of traditions. It supports pupils to discern what is of value for themselves as they develop their own ideas and ways of living. RE helps the development of ‘the whole person’ as children are better able to understand themselves and the world. RE can enable pupils to gain insights from religions and philosophies and give them practice in ‘skills for life’. RE teaching in Holt School is unpinned by our strong Christian values such as empathy, sensitivity, humility, as well as robust British values like tolerance, community and people.
At Holt school, we nurture an ethos which enables children to reflect upon their own beliefs and values and seek guidance when faced with moral dilemmas. These skills will be informed by our pupil’s understanding of religious and philosophical principles. Holt school celebrates the active support our pupils experience from our church and wider community.
