We want to equip our children with not only the minimum statutory requirements of the geography National Curriculum but to prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.
We want our children to incorporate the benefits of living in a rural community with rich and diverse places and environments on our doorstep such as the cities of Bath and Bristol, nearby Bradford on Avon, the river Avon and the county town of Trowbridge.
We enrich their time in our school with memorable, unforgettable experiences and provide opportunities which are normally out of reach – this piques their interests and passions.
For example a Year 3 class visit to Trowbridge Museum gave children a hands on experience of comparing historical maps made during the expansion of the woollen trade with maps of today by using technology to capture their engagement. The whole school local study of Holt and the surrounding area gave the children opportunities to develop their fieldwork skills of observation, mapping techniques and data collection.
